PingoScribe
With PingoScribe you no longer have to type words key-by-key, instead you simply move over all the keys in a single stroke letting PingoScribe recognize which word you meant.
This finally fills the gap for fast pen input methods for linux tablet pcs.
The Name
PingoScribe is a combination of the latin words 'pingo' (meaning: I paint) and 'scribe' (meaning: you write!). It's meant to represent the attitute the kind user has towards his input machine: "I paint and you write!"
Features
- recognizes words based on a extendable dictionary by simply moving over the corresponding keys on the on-screen keyboard
- rates the quality of the matches by how close the stroke was to the "best possible" stroke for the word and the "importance" of the word (eg. how frequently the word was used)
- open-source
- runs on multiple platforms (Linux, Win32 - MacOS-X should be possible too) using QT4

Word Lists / Dictionaries
PingoScribe can import word lists from aspell. Those are not optimized to be used as a PingoScribe dictionary but anyways they provide a good starting point for creating your own dictionary.
We hope we will be able to package some free word lists ready for use in PingoScribe in the near future.
